Dear Colleagues,

After the last three successful meetings in Belgium, China, and USA, Beihang University and Peking University are now honored to host the 4th International Workshop on Persistent and Photostimulable Phosphors (2018) in Beijing, China between April 4 and 8, 2018. We are now cordially inviting you to co-organize and participate in this event. We would like to thank our colleagues Prof. Philippe F. Smet, Prof. Mingying Peng and Prof. Wei Chen for their kindness to help this workshop.

Recent years have witnessed rapid advances and progress in persistent and photostimulable luminescent materials as well as their applications in various areas such as lighting, displays, safety, security, sensing, biological imaging, medicine and clean energy. The purpose of this workshop is to report and discuss the experimental and theoretical results and the future possibility of luminescence materials. Furthermore, the workshop will foster and enhance collaborations among investigators and between the academic world and industry. In conjunction with the research symposium, we intend to closely integrate educational efforts as well as training involving both undergraduates and graduate students of our attendees.

Preliminary schedule will be:

All aspects of persistent and photostimulable luminescence, electro-and cathodo-luminescence will be covered. It includes exemplarily, but is not limited to:

• Synthesis and development new persistent or photostimulable materials
• Spectroscopic characterization including luminescence, thermoluminescence etc.
• Structural, defect and properties characterization
• Dynamic energy transfer processes
• Simulation and Models for the crystal structure, electronic structure and processes such as charging, trapping and luminescence
• Luminescent Nanomaterials
• Applications in solid state lighting, displays and energy-conversion
• Applications in Biomedical Imaging, Cell Labeling, Cancer treatment and Drug release/delivery
• Applications in Sensing Technology, Safety and Security, Radiation detection

Early registration fee is US$400. For student and retired participants, it is reduced to US $250. For Chinese delegates, the early registration fee is 2500 RMB. For student and retired participants, it is reduced to 1500 RMB. The registration fee does not cover travel expenses, accommodation or meals costs.

Deadline for one page abstract submission (recommended with references) is November 30, 2017. Selected conference papers will be published in a special issue of Journal of Luminescence (Impact factor in 2016 is 2.686) or Optical Materials (Impact factor in 2016 is 2.238).

Please help us to nominate candidates for plenary lectures and invited talks. Nomination deadline is November 15 2017.
